Mannings breathes new life into Shoreham

Released: Wednesday, 02 August 2023

The finishing touches are being put to a new modern low carbon housing project in Shoreham that will breathe life into the area by providing affordable homes.

Housing developer Southern Housing and developers Real have worked together to deliver the new 74-unit scheme on an outdated 40-apartment site that will see a number of residents who had previously lived there return.

The development comprises one to three-bedroom apartments that will be home to a mix of social rent and shared ownership units that is designed to promote a vibrant community with wellbeing at the heart of it.

It features private outdoor areas and 86 new bicycle spaces to promote active and sustainable travel, while also including carbon saving measures such as air-source heat pumps and heat recovery ventilation to help reduce carbon emissions.

The official 'topping out' ceremony took place last month when Southern Housing and Real were joined by Cllr Steve Neocleous, Adur Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategic Planning and St Mary's Ward councillors Catherine Arnold and Jeremy Gardner.

They were given a tour of the project, and in keeping with tradition a yew tree branch was placed at the highest point of the building by Real CEO Paul Nicholls.

The Mannings is expected to be ready for residents early next year.
